I already own a paperback copy of this book. I bought this book because I thought that It would be the same book but with a neat tome-like hardcover edition. Boy was I dead wrong. The paperback published by WeiserBooks is the actual book with 93 chapters including the ! and ? as the first two chapters. Also there is interpretations of each chapter that is extremely fascinating in the paperback. The fake hardcover version that I wasted 31 dollars on is a terrible rip off of The Book Of Lies!(I tossed it in the trash bin) It wasn't even numbered properly with the chapters. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS KNOCK OFF! The paperback Weiser Books edition is the definitive edition. I don't need my money back, I just need people to know that there are fake versions of books that amazon will sell anyone. Buyer beware!!!

This book is a real head scratcher. I have a feeling if I knew anything about Qabalah I might at least understand some of the symbols, but the writing is deliberately convoluted. I enjoy a good puzzle though, so I think I'll give it another try.

Crowley, as many know, was a showman of the highest caliber. He wore many hats and placed himself in many a situation. Of course, there was much about him that was a lie, but that was all part of the show.The Book of Lies, which is chiefly a book of poetry, lacks any kind of real cohesion of thought. It is a fever dream of a devilish soul, but it also reeks of self-indulgence. That self-indulgence is what sinks this book. What could have been a captivating piece of history is instead something that remains in print simply because of the author's name.

Definitely not for the novice, this is a beast of a brain burner and the first example I’ve found of quadruple entendres. Screamingly funny if you’re in on the joke but I’d start with Liber ABA and the fantastic new Keep Silent edition of The Equinox before tackling the Lies.

The very interesting thing about this book is one thing, and only one thing, that is written on the inside: the date of manufacture. It was literally printed on the very same date that I ordered it!!! Ain't that weird?! Maybe its just me, but I've never had a book ordered and printed on the same day! Makes me wonder how they did that. Other than that, its all that I hoped for.

Lots of jargon. Not for a novice.

The book is amazing.. But the edition is the most mediocre thing I've ever seen. I had the misfortune of buying The Book of Thoth from the same publisher... Rubish
