This thing will only let me rate 1 star for some reason! I would have given it 2. The quotation marks bugged me, they didn't make sense. I have loved all of the Jack Ryder series until this one. I found myself upset that Jack even thought about another woman. I found myself upset that Shannon acted like an immature baby, jealous, going on the road in the first place was selfish. Jack and Shannon just did not act like the Jack and Shannon that I remember. The only thing that I did like about the book was the very end where Jack decided to take Emily to the Bahamas. I guess that I just didn't feel like I knew any of the characters. Was the neighbor a rapist? Was he just that way because of something about Diane? Diane's husband just came out of the woodwork, the reader knew nothing about him. The old crabby neighbor came in handy, but I would have liked to know more about him.The serial killer, he was barely mentioned, and Shannon not being smart enough to know she was on drugs?? The whole book just didn't have any of the Willow pizzaz!

“Inspired by a True Story”. That grabbed me and I did guess which serial killer inspired this complex storyline. I have not read a Jack Ryder book before this, and I found myself wanting to know more of the backstory on these characters. A Detective with six children from ages 19 to 3 or 4? The 19-year-old has serious anorexia. The smallest child has a recurring fever, and Jack’s wife, Shannon, is some kind of super-star-singer-performer and on a tour! Jack seems overwhelmed between the children and numerous murders happening in his town. Jack and Shannon both seem a little more flawed than I would expect as main characters, but it just makes them more human, I guess.As a who-done-it, this is a very enjoyable read. I can see a hint of the horror writer, as the evil depicted is dark and raw, and some of the action is chaotic. Lots of surprises and twists make for a very entertaining read!

Oh I do love me some Jack Ryder! Fast paced, gritty everyday chores and super sluthing. Twists to the end! Make your day better reading Girl Next Door!

Detective Jack Ryder is up against his worst killer so far. A man comes in on a Monday morning and kills the entire family.Now forty years later he strikes again in Cocoa Beach Florida. Could it be the same killer or is this a copycat. Why start now? Does it have something to do with the purchase of the house where the first killing has been purchased? Jack's wife is out on tour and he is left alone with the six children, and now this? This is an exciting story as only Willow Rose can tell it! You wouldn't believe me if I told you, so I won't. You will have to read this strange story for yourself.

Oh my gosh. Willow has done it again. I absolutely loved this book. They keep me coming back for more. Thank you again for your spellbound books.

Two families killed on a Monday morning 40 years apart. Was it the same killer? A copycat killer? A relative? A friend? A neighbor? Jack doesn't need this right now when he is home alone taking car of his 6 children while his wife is out on tour. But you know Jack will handle it somehow. Get a copy of this book and come along on this roller coaster ride. So far this is Willow Rose's best Jack Ryder.

This was the best book yet in the series and I can't wait to see what happens next. Another great story that was hard to put down. I loved the twists and turns that this story brought. Kept me guessing as too who the killer was. Jack sure had his hands full. Now I know why I always lock my doors when home alone. Keep up the great work Willow, have loved every book I've read so far.

The book moves well - it draws you in so you can't put it down! Well developed and a fairly easy read (always a plus). Characters had depth and you could relate to them and their situation. All in all a decent read!
