I have been looking forward to the release of this book since I finished "The Tonkin Protocol" — and I am pleased to say that Mick Bose did not let me down! If Mr. Bose writes to entertain, I hope that means he is going to be writing for a very long time because I am definitely entertained...I have lived in Washington DC and I have visited Shanghai and Hong Kong on business — the description of those cities and places in them (like the Four Seasons in Shanghai) is spot on. I attended GWU and I am familiar with its campus and other areas of DC. I could "visualise" these places in my head — I also used google images to remind me what specific buildings and streets look like if I was unable to recall the area(s) and/or locale(s) off the top of my head. The author obviously has done his research and that makes the book more believable and enjoyable...Dan works with a Chinese woman, Xiao Wei-Ling in this book. Xiao is a very likeable and perceptive character. She is also intelligent and extremely helpful — her ability as a translator and her knowledge of the Chinese people, culture and politics is invaluable. I was very impressed with her character development and her tenacity...I was immersed in this book from the beginning. As is the case with every Dan Roy book in the series, I read this book straight through. Mr. Bose knows how to grab your attention early on and keeps it until the last page. The story is believable and the characters come alive and leap off the pages. The subject matter is one that could be taken out of today's headlines. I did not want this book to end! Like the rest of his readers, I am (im)patiently waiting for the next chapter in Dan Roy's life...

I'm going to have to give the same review that I did the last book… The typos and inconsistencies slowed me down so many times but it was actually hard to continue reading this. For instance… A safety on a Glock 22?? Seriously?? That's just one example of the stuff that had me stop in from time to time just to scratch my head like this book had never seen a proofreader.The book had some good points… Held my interest when I wasn't crazy over the typos… But the best I can give it is a three.

Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. It was action packed and kept me on the edge of my seat. Dan Roy is a very complex man, who does awful things for the right reasons. He takes care of the helpless and innocents. It's impossible to not love him. The heroine Xiao is also a courageous and complex woman. There is just enough sexual attraction and tension to make it interesting. A really great plot and ending!

The book was fairly interesting but there were a number of errors that would have been caught with good proofreading. I did not start writing them down until I was well past the middle of the book. Examples:Prostate should have been prostrate; split the beans should be spilt; poker head in? Mass should have been mess and into between should be in between. I consider lack of or careless proofreading to be a lack of pride by the author. It spoils good book.

The story again is really great. It keeps you guessing till the very end. However I still have problems with the grammar. The author, Mick Bose, doesn't seem to understand the difference between "in," "on," and "at." You don't sit in a table! And the subject and verb must be in the same tense, i.e. the noun "parks" is.plural, the verb "was" is singular. "Were".would be the correct tense. Oh, well...

Loved this book! The author described parts of China and the culture in a captivating fashion, he didn't romanticize as a tourist would. The plot flowed beautifully and the action rarely stopped. It's hard to imagine one man being so effective in completing a mission, but this writer makes most of it seem possible. I've read the entire series to date, and this book and Hellfire are my faves, but they're all good reads.

I loved the first three in this series but I found this one to be very dull and wordy. I found myself skimming most of this book and Bose's usually exciting endings was missing in this one.

Living in Shanghai for the last four years made it a little more fun to read the details of Chinese life, customs and words. Most of the Authors details were on the mark.Overall, it was well paced and fun. I’ll try another in the series.Howard S.
