My familiar Stranger was recommended to me by a friend who knew I liked to read vampire and paranormal books. This book is like no other story I had ever read before.I was hooked and downloaded the second book before. I was completely done with this one. Victoria Dannann has certainly come with a fascinating take on vampires and other paranormal begins.Elora is a character that draws you in and makes you want to learn more about what will happen to her. I would highly recommend this book.

I've just discovered yet another bestselling author that I've never even heard of before - Victoria Danann - who is prolific and has an imagination beyond compare. My Familiar Stranger has intriguing characters - that one kind of wishes really did exist in our dimension... And I love the concept of parallel dimensions, which I haven't run across since I read Roger Zelazny, decades ago, probably because I've generally leaned toward other genres.A captivating story, with sub-stories, sexy characters, funny dialogue, romance, and magic. And this is just the first book in a series, so I'll get to continue to enjoy these characters! I've actually already finished the second book and am about to order the third. There are a few editorial glitches, but they don't detract from the story a bit. When I review a book, I sometimes mention my Kindle eReader and shopping in the Amazon Kindle bookstore. I have found that the readily accessible book reviews written by other regular readers, have led me to many authors I might never have found otherwise. Thank you to all the other readers who take the time to write reviews.Thank you, Victoria Danann, for your entertaining books and for the affordable pricing! Keep them coming, please.Happy reading.:)

The story wasn't bad, but the overall flow was not precise. It was hard to distinguish which character was speaking. The biggest thing I hate more than anything is a story/plot to not make sense and it will keep me from reading further into any series. I give it an overall 2.5 stars. The ONLY reason why it didn't score lower was because I genuinely liked he characters. Here are my issues. When Elora arrived in another dimension as a "lump"---it was very clear that she was determined she was human--and was considered as such though out the story. In fact, she didn't even know that elves existed. So why do I get to the end and Monq tells Ram that she's 99% elf and calls Ram an idiot for not "knowing". What?I refused to believe that Sol and Monq would consider her "human" and call her a human when she wasn't or that another elf would not recognize his own species of a fated mate. Even Ram said DNA would distinguish the difference--which is why they cannot procreate. Elora plopped out of thin air and yet she's labeled one species--(to the point that she was never asked or told about being an elf)---but at the end, she's labeled as an entirely different species...as if the author changed her mind so Elora and Ram can "have a baby". Ridiculous.Which leads to the next problem. Elves have only one fated mate---but because she was "human" though the story---at the end Ram concedes that Elora did know he was her fated mate. How was that exactly that he came to that conclusion when we as readers read that she was fighting her attraction even for Baka? She should have known Ram was her mate the second she was introduced to him when she was no longer a "blob"---and that just did NOT happen---the only conclusion to this was a miserably failed plot attempt to get a "square" love triangle between Elora, Storm, Ram, and Baka.Want a good definition of "fated mates"? Read Kresley Cole's IAD series--which I consider even better defined that even BDB series. But the most issue that defied logic to me was the fact that Ram had a "brotherhood" with his group---yet NEVER ONCE even bothers to mention to Storm that Elora was his one fated mate despite all the years together. No, he just sits back and turns a blind eye that Storm, who took care of her for months continues to develop feelings for her....and stand back and allows it...and acting jealous instead of simply telling Storm instead. I mean---I cannot understand this part most of all...of why he would allow such a friend to be hurt in such way--other than to draw out the meaningless "square" triangle plot.Other questionable issues: Why are Ram and Elora dealing with "scars" at the end of the story when at the beginning when she was a "lump" they had a special salve that took away scarring? Why was it not used the other time? All through the book when she found out the locket contained information---what that information really was---or if it contained any information about the attack that was obviously planned---Elora didn't ask a single question in regards to what happened or who the gunmen or if such info was contained into that locket. I don't get the point of Ghost's motive to give Elora a drug either---to accomplish what exactly---it was almost done as an excuse for the author to get things going with Elora and Ram for a "sexual" encounter---one she didn't remember and one Ram didn't tell her happened either---in fact, lied about it. But the most ridiculous part was Elora put her "soreness" down to being put on a bike and I rolled my eyes--I just had to---obviously the author left out the fact that "fluids" were not mentioned even though it was clearly evident no condoms were used despite multiple bouts of sex. Seriously--eye roll and just plain lame. There were a lot of unexplained things in this book that perhaps will be explained in the others, but I don't intend to go on any further---if the first book makes no sense to me---then I don't expect the others to as well.
